Bicycle cake for Lance Armstrong ride in Charlotte NC

Every July a few thousand extraordinary cyclists in three U.S. cities get together for a 24 hour bike ride in their effort to raise money for cancer related charities in their respective cities. They also are contributing to the Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG Foundation.  The ride is known as “The 24 Hours of Booty” and you will have visit here in order to figure out what the name is all about.  This bike cake is a replica of the organizations logo which served up to 175 guests at the “Jeans & Jewels” benefit auction that we are proud to contribute to.   The rear bike wheel is Vanilla cake and the other wheel is Chocolate cake while the “rider” is a combination of both.  Everything is covered with a thick layer of our signature butter cream icing and sealed with a layer of fondant. The graphics are edible sugar paper (along with edible ink of course).  If you would like to donate to the charity, we welcome you to visit their site here.  Pictures from the event will be posted soon.

LIVESTRONG Cake

This custom cake is our first in a few we hope to be able to do for a national organization (YES, the cake was offered at a reduced rate). TEAM MOXIE is a group of adventure bicycle riders based here in the Charlotte area.  This custom cake was inspired by the Lance Armstrong Foundation and their “LIVESTRONG” campaign.  TEAM MOXIE will be participating in the July 24th thru 25th, 2009 Lance Armstrong foundation’s 24 Hours of Booty bike ride for cancer research.  The cake features a yellow band around it’s perimeter as well as grass and a lakefront.  The only thing NOT edible on this cake is the Bicycle. Thanks to one of my facebook fans & fellow “Loweser”, Stacy for allowing us the privilege of giving us free reign on designing this fondant/butter cream iced chocolate cake. Cake serves 9-12 people.
